Bound Brook, N.J.-based Somerset Tire Service, Inc. is in the process of implementing a new IT system from Signal Extraprise designed to improve operational efficiency, increase store traffic, “build sales through intelligence-based recommendations” and provide branch managers with expedited store-level reporting.

Also known as STS Tire & Auto Centers, the employee-owned Somerset says it’s the largest independent tire and automotive service chain in the Northeast with more than 115 retail outlets throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

“We conducted a thorough search of the tire and automotive service information technology systems and determined that Signal Extraprise solutions were the superior choice for our store operations,” says Michael Cardali, Somerset’s vice president of information technology

“Naturally a concern of ours, and part of our decision process, was to weigh the advantages of a new system against the risk and effort of orchestrating a smooth transition,” Cardali recounts.

“However, after the first few months of our partnership with the Signal Extraprise team, I am somewhat relieved and impressed that the first phase of this project is moving forward in a timely and efficient manner thanks to their professionalism, expertise and positive attitude,” he notes. “They are demonstrating everyday that they are up to the task of tailoring their solutions to our needs and to other challenges such as data integration with both new and existing systems as we work towards the ultimate rollout.”

“The solutions to the very real business challenges of tire and auto service firms are integral design elements of the revolutionary eXceed-Retail, which raises the bar of aftermarket technology,” asserts A.J. McKenna, Signal’s CEO and president. “Years in development, we have now unveiled the results of our labor and are delighted to have been selected by the well-known and respected Somerset Tire Service to implement our best-in- class technology solutions.”

Other Signal tire industry offerings include eXceed-Wholesale, TireTrader and TireDataCentral.

Founded in 1958 in New Jersey’s Somerset County and having grown to a staff of 800 people, Somerset Tire Service’s company motto is “It’s a trust thing.”

According to President Bill Caulin, the operation strives to be a place “where long-term relationships are established based on trust” displayed by “honest and ethical business practices. As employee-owners, we all have a personal stake in the company’s success and recognize that our success depends upon complete customer satisfaction.”
