Goodyear has been awarded a five-year contract for supplying tires and related maintenance services to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The Metro is the nation’s second-largest transit bus fleet, annually traversing more than 100 million miles.
Goodyear is taking over the supply and service agreement after previously serving the system from 1985 to 2006.
“Goodyear is pleased to be back at Metro,” says John Landefeld, general manager of mileage sales, lease and service. “We look forward to once again providing quality tires and service to Metro and its patrons.”
The system operates a fleet of some 2,550 buses that include conventional and 60-foot articulated vehicles. Combined with Metro Rail and other transportation, it has an annual ridership of more than 447 million people standing at nearly 16,000 bus stops.
Goodyear’s Mileage Sales, Lease and Service unit provides tire leasing and service to transit and charter bus fleets across the U.S. and Canada.
