Two-time Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust earned a hard fought third-place win while piloting his Scion tC on Hankook tires to his second podium finish in three events, leaving Foust firmly in the fray to claim a third series championship.

“Consistency is obviously the key with such a short season and, with drifting, the only thing you can count on is chaos,” says Foust. “I was surprised at how much carnage there was this weekend. In one round I almost had a car flip over right in front of me.”

Foust made his way through to the semi-finals, where he lost a close decision to eventual second-place winner Vaughn Gittin, Jr. He then met last year’s New Jersey event winner, Darren McNamara, in the consolation match – taking third place.

Foust now has a tight grip on third place overall in the championship standings with four events remaining.

Despite temperatures reaching 90 degrees on a clear day at New Jersey’s Wall Speedway, crowds packed the Formula Drift stands as Conrad Grunewald, in his Hankook Tire Camaro, made a move into 15th place in the overall championship standings.

Formula Drift Round 4: the “Throwdown at Evergreen Speedway” takes place outside of Seattle July 9-10.
