BFGoodrich 33-inch all-terrain tires are adorning the Hummer H3 being fielded by the U.S. Gazelles race team for the March 13-27 Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the women-only competition covers sand dunes and whole lot of rugged ground for a grueling nine-day race featuring 110 teams from 30 countries. They drive without GPS, cell phones or support crews, navigating only by compass and maps from the 1950s. The objective of the rally is to complete the event in the shortest amount of kilometers while still reaching each day’s required checkpoints.

The U.S. Gazelles, composed of driver Emily Miller and navigator Wendy Fisher, is the only American team running in the rally. Miller, a pilot for Rod Hall Racing and a Baja 1000 class winner, is the only woman to “Ironman” the longest off-road race in the U.S.

In addition to her current role as a vehicle navigator, Fisher does big mountain free-skiing and is a two-time Extreme Skiing World Champion.

“When you’re skiing in the backcountry, you want to use the best possible gear to keep you safe and successfully finish the run,” says Miller, equating the preparation required for their specialized Moroccan off-road entry, which was outfitted for the event by Hummer France.
