Team General Tire driver Marc Burnett of Chula Vista, Calif. has claimed overall second-place honors in Class 6 for this year’s SCORE (Southern California Off-Road Enthusiasts) Desert Racing season.

Burnett finished the five-race series with 240 points, including a decisive checkered flag at March’s San Felipe 250. He also took third in his class at the SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 last month.

“We had some ups and downs, but in the long-run this really was a great season,” says Burnett.
“We want to thank General Tire and all of our sponsors for helping get us here,” he adds, noting that he is already gearing up to win a championship next year.

“The 2009 season saw some of the toughest, most challenging courses ever, and for Marc to finish second in a class of very talented drivers is quite an achievement,” says Travis Roffler, General’s marketing director.

“His accomplishments really underscore everything we’ve been working toward for the past two seasons,” Roffler reports. “Our General Grabber competition tire is now, solidly, the tire to beat.”
