Veteran driver Chris Rado set an Unlimited FWD record at the Nov. 11 Super Lap Battle finals with a time of 1.49.703.
Rado ran his Scion tC on Continental tires, the first result of a new strategic alliance between Continental and Hoosier Racing Tire. The previous Buttonwillow record had stood for five years, but Rado beat it by 1.615 seconds, making his the first FWD car in the facility’s history to run under 1.50.
World Racing’s Rado broke yet another track record with his dragster at the NHRA finals with an elapsed time of 6.96 at 146 mph.
He then ran a 1.393 at the Redline Time Attack in his Scion tC, earning him the Unlimited Class Championship.
“Rado is an outstanding, well-rounded driver and Continental is very excited to have him running our colors,” says Continental events manager Terry Smouter. “A broken record on the debut of these tires is outstanding, but following that with two more track records all in one week is historic. We look forward to more great things from him in 2010.”
