Nitto and General are among the tire makers on the front lines at this week’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. General’s Exclaim tires are prominent on custom cars at Hyundai’s booth, while Nitto’s display is hosting a high profile one-of-a-kind concept creation by Ken Lingenfelter of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

Equipped with Nitto tires, size 275/40ZR20 in the front and 315/35ZR20 for the rear on custom-designed honeycomb wheels, the Lingenfelter T/A is a modified 2010 Camaro with engine and performance refinements along with custom-molded body styling.

The “stop-in-your-tracks” vehicle utilizes “all the styling and muscle from the past combined with the technology and elegance of today,” according to Lingenfelter, who says it was constructed “with one goal in mind – to celebrate, in a most pronounced manner, America’s muscle-car heritage.”

It has a custom Racing Head Service (RHS) aluminum engine block with a 455 cubic inch displacement, a 4.155-inch bore Diamond 11.5:1 compression ratio pistons and a 4.200-inch stroke Lunati forged crankshaft.

Lingenfelter-brand CNC ported and polished LS7 heads and an LSX FAST 102 intake finish off the engine, which produces 655 horsepower and 610 foot-pounds of torque.

Finished in an icy, bright white with an electric blue stripe running from front to rear, the car also features a Lingenfelter 6-bolt LS9 twin disk flywheel and clutch assembly and heavy duty Driveshaft Shop halfshafts.

Body enhancements include “a dramatic new hood with a shaker scoop and blue keyed stripe. A new front fascia borrows from the vehicle’s inspired muscle car heritage, and incorporates custom head lamps, grille and turn signals for authentic detailing,” he reports.

The fender has a functional side extractor scoop, and the rear quarter panel boasts a leading-edge wheel flair. “Dramatic details in the back again point to the vehicle’s 1970s roots,” says Lingenfelter. “Rear corners of the car have been extended nearly 4 inches with a wrapped down stand-up spoiler. Custom-created taillight housings nicely complement the package.”

A custom-designed CORSA Performance stainless steel exhaust is included, and “finally, to complete the muscle car experience, bright blue woven vinyl seat inserts and metal turned instrument panel accents highlight the interior.”

Over at the Hyundai booth, General’s Exclaim ultra-high performance tires on Nutek Series 530 22-inch wheels with Chrome Tech black chrome centers and black lips adorn the Street Concepts Genesis Sedan 4.6-liter Tau V8.

Using special paint pens, during the SEMA Show artist Courtney Mason is using the vehicle’s pearl white finish as a canvas to apply a signature mural highlighting the custom graphics.

The car has Eibach lowering springs, Brembo brakes and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust.

General Exclaims are also fitted on the RIDES/LUX Motorwerks Genesis Coupe. Sarona Design created a custom body kit including a new front fascia, rear bumper, grille, sideskirts and vented fenders. The car was sprayed with a coat of Porsche 911 GT3 RS orange paint, and the roof was refinished in matte black, tying together the Vossen 20-inch VF051 rims with the tires.

To improve the performance of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a Turbonetics GT-K 350 ceramic ball bearing turbo was swapped onto the block, along with a Spearco front-mount intercooler.

A full GReddy Racing Ti-C turbo-back exhaust augments high and midrange performance. StopTech brakes sit on all four corners, and an A’PEXi coilover kit “not only lowers the coupe to its aggressive stance, it stiffens up the handling for when you’re pushing the bends,” says Michael Deitz, Hyundai’s manager of product planning.

“Each year, we fill our SEMA display with the most exciting custom cars through a partnership with the aftermarket to create even more options for Hyundai owners,” he notes. “This year we chose to again showcase the rear-wheel drive Genesis platform, which has tremendous enthusiast appeal and a growing allegiance in the tuner space.”
