Toyo says its tires have further proven their competitive worth in Fort Worth following a successful showing May 15-17 at the TORC (The Off-Road Racing Championship Series) season-opening event.
Riding on Toyo’s Open Country M/T-R tires, driver Rick Huseman scored back-to-back victories in the Pro 4X4 Truck class during Rounds 1 and 2 in his No. 36 Monster Energy/Traxxas/Toyota/Toyo V-8 Tundra.
In addition to the two checkered flags, Huseman collected two “Oakley Bomb Run Awards” for setting the fastest qualifying times in his class each day.
“My Toyo tires worked great all weekend,” says Huseman. “The last time I was in Dallas we also had a win,” he points out, noting how “the track got real rough this weekend. We just exercised patience and it paid off.”
Also having a festive weekend at the Lone Star State TORC competition was the LeDuc family, consisting of father Curt and sons Todd and Kyle. The three drivers competed in all of the Pro classes and scored four podium wins with their Rockstar/Makita/Ford Trucks/Toyo entries.
Todd LeDuc finished in third place in Round 1 on Friday evening in the hotly contested Pro 2WD Truck class with fifteen trucks racing for a win. During Round 2, he finished in fourth place and banked more points toward the overall championship.
Curt LeDuc scored a second place finish during Round 1 of the Pro 4X4 Truck class to make it a Toyo 1-2 podium celebration, while Kyle LeDuc managed a fourth place finish.
During Round 2, Kyle LeDuc showed his consistency by finishing in third to also collect more points toward the season championship. The young LeDuc also placed second during Round 2 in the Pro Light Truck class and scooped up an “Oakley Bomb Run Award.”
“Our Team Toyo Off-Road drivers are beginning where they left off during last year’s racing season – competing for the championship in short course off-road racing,” observes Stan Chen, Toyo’s manager of events and motorsports.
With television broadcasts on both ESPN and ABC, the TORC short course series has 16 pro races in eight events at tracks across the United States, including sites in Texas, California, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nevada.
