An Ohio-based firm, Standards Testing Laboratories (STL), has clinched a coveted nomination for the Tire Technology International Award for Innovation and Excellence, competing in the Tire Industry Supplier of the Year category.

The winner is to be selected Feb. 18 during the Tire Technology Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

Five categories are under consideration at the event.: Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year; Environmental Achievement of the Year; Tire Technology of the Year; Tire Industry Supplier of the Year; and Manufacturer of the Year.

The Supplier of the Year Award “recognizes excellence and new endeavors in the field by industry suppliers.”

“We’re honored to be considered for the Tire Industry Supplier of the Year award as we focus on company growth that allows us to serve tire and wheel customers throughout the world,” says Cheryl Schnuth, STL’s vice president of marketing.

The company, headquartered in Massillon, Ohio, has been conducting tire and wheel testing for cars, SUVs and light and commercial trucks since 1970.

“Our expert team of engineers, scientists and technicians devotes each day to conducting high-quality, unbiased testing that delivers accurate, reliable data,” Schnuth points out.

Through its four divisions, STL provides the rubber and automotive industries with dynamic laboratory testing, static and physical testing, fleet testing, test machines, specialized photographic and video analysis and consulting services.

More than 500 global tire industry professionals are expected to be in Hamburg attending the gala dinner and awards ceremony. An independent, international panel consisting of industry executives, engineers and academics will judge each nomination to determine the winners in each category.
