New Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP run-flat tire to be available for Corvettes in August

Michelin is introducing its Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tire, which will be available Aug. 1 as a plus-one fitment for the Corvette C5 C6Z06; additional sizes for the C6 ‘Vette will be on the market in October.

An ultra-high performance summer tire, the new release evolves from the existing Michelin line of Pilot Sport low-profile Z-rated tires yet it also has run-flat capability. It additionally delivers improved cornering control because of an advanced sidewall and variable contact patch technology, according to brand category manager Nicolas Goubert.

“For Corvette enthusiasts seeking top performance and excellent wear life from their supercars, the Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tire is the only choice -- providing precision handling and control in high-speed cornering and maximized grip in both wet and dry conditions without sacrificing the ride,” Goubert contends, noting that it “sets the standard for what an ultra-high performance run-flat tire can do.”

Utilizing Michelin’s latest Zero Pressure technology, its asymmetric tread design presents large outer shoulder blocks and continuous intermediate and center ribs to enhance steering response and cornering stability, Goubert says.
