May 24, 2013—The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) recently honored Bill Sauer, founder of Identifix, with a Lifetime Service Award.
AASP-MN recognized Sauer for his many years as a volunteer and supporter of the automotive industry. Sauer currently serves on AASP-MN’s Education and Training Committee, and is a member of the Automotive Training Managers Council and the Automotive Service Association (ASA).
Sauer is also a former board member of the Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and has served on several technical school advisory boards, inlcuding the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.
“Bill Sauer is loved by virtually everyone in this industry, and especially by his friends at AASP-MN,” said Judell Anderson, executive director of AASP-MN. “Between the experts at Identifix and his connections with others in the industry, Bill has been an invaluable resource to AASP-MN when it comes to delivering quality training to our members.”
Sauer is now semi-retired after founding Roseville, Minn.–based Identifix 26 years ago, a source for vehicle diagnostics and OEM service and repair information. But he continues to work on making enhancements to the company's Direct-Hit and Identifix Repair Hotline.
“I’ve been in the auto repair business for over 50 years, half of those fixing cars," Sauer said. “Recognizing the challenges in the industry and the increasing complexity of vehicles, my goal has always been to make it easier for technicians to do their job. AASP-MN shares that goal, which is why their recognition of my contributions is such an honor.”
