Jan. 17, 2011 — The Automotive Service Association (ASA) recently wrote a letter to leaders of the House Appropriations Committee asking them to reconsider proposed cuts to career and technical education programs.
The ASA specifically opposed a proposal to cut nearly $103 million from the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. That proposal would eliminate funding for the 2011-2012 school year, ASA said.
“These programs are essential for vocational education and training for the automotive industry,” the ASA said in a press release_notes about the proposed cuts, “and it would be a mistake for Congress to keep these specific cuts in the budget proposal.”
