March 11, 2011 — The Alliance of Auto Service Providers of Pennsylvania (AASP-PA) recently became the newest affiliate of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

The AASP-PA, based in Harrisburg, Penn., has chapters across the state and is divided into collision repair, mechanical and towing segments. The collision division gravitated toward SCRS as part of its effort to add membership value and follow-through on its mission to forge alliances that strengthen the industry, according to the SCRS.

“SCRS has a national point of view containing many useful insights into the issues affecting collision repairers, and they have a record of being very active on behalf of the industry,” said AASP-PA Executive Director Jerry Schantz. “Our decision to affiliate was based on the fact that our two organizations are looking for the same changes to help our collision members and make our profession stronger.”

He said working more closely with the SCRS would make it easier for members to stay in touch with what’s happening in the industry.

Aaron Schulenburg, executive director of SCRS, said his organization was looking forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with AASP-PA, which he called a leader in legislative representation and adept at securing industry training. The partnership should also help solidify the SCRS relationship with AASP National, he said.

Through its direct members and 39 affiliate groups, SCRS is made up of 6,000 collision repair businesses and 58,000 specialized professionals.
