Shops Get Cash Back for Eco-Friendly Practices

July 23, 2013

July 23, 2013—Public verification program Find Green Garage announced Monday a new round of grant funding to provide vehicle service and repair shop owners with cash-back rewards for going green.

The Green Garage Challenge was designed to help the public locate automotive shops that are certified under official environmentally friendly programs.

Shop owners registered in the Energy Star Green Garage Challenge can sign up to receive cash back for managing their green sustainability on a continuous basis.

Participants in the program will earn from 3 to 10 percent for purchasing green products, minimizing waste, and reducing their energy usage.

“Cash back rewards are available to shops that achieve a 10 percent carbon footprint reduction,” said Steven Schillinger, administrator of the Green Garage Challenge.

Schillinger said most general automotive business activities defined by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) under codes NAICS 811111 and NAICS 811198 qualify to receive the offer.
