White Auto Body donates two vehicles to families in need

Dec. 15, 2011

Dec. 15, 2011—Steve and Valerie White, owners of White Auto Body in Missouri, last week donated two refurbished vehicles to families in need through the company’s White Christmas Program.

The White Christmas Program, which White Auto Body conducts annually, presents vehicles to community families in need of transportation who cannot afford to purchase a car. White Auto Body refurbishes and donates vehicles that are deemed as total losses by an insurance company or previous owner.

White Auto Body’s 2011 White Christmas Program was held Dec. 6, when it presented the following families with transportation:

• Christy Purvey was presented with a 2001 Nissan Sentra. Purvey lives in St. Charles, Mo. with her husband and three sons. Purvey and her husband owned a vehicle, but it broke down and they both lost their jobs. White Auto Body said Purvey and her husband have been offered new jobs, and will be able to return to the workforce now that they have dependable transportation.

• Shaneka Lewis was presented with a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. Lewis lives in St. Louis with her daughter. White Auto Body said Lewis did not have a vehicle of her own, and used public transportation to and from her job as a nursing assistant. The new vehicle will provide Lewis with additional job opportunities, and a greater chance for future success.

Employees of White Auto Body performed all vehicle repairs for free. The company, along with several outside vendors, filled both cars with Christmas presents for each family, White Auto Body said.

In addition, White Auto Body said it paid for the necessary vehicle inspections, six months of liability insurance, and all taxes and titling fees. The recipients of the vehicles had no initial out-of-pocket expenses when the car was awarded to them.

This is the 12th consecutive year that White Auto Body has held its White Christmas Program. To date, the company has donated 27 vehicles to community families.

White Auto Body is a two-shop operation, with locations in O’Fallon and Florissant, Mo. For more information, visit whiteautobody.com.
