Chrysler Foundation donates $50,000 for U.S. disaster relief

June 9, 2011

June 9, 2011 — The Chrysler Foundation recently donated $50,000 to AmeriCares U.S. Disaster Relief Fund to help families displaced from their homes because of recent natural disasters.

The donation will help provide medical aid, bottled water, hygiene products and relief supplies to survivors of severe weather and other events. Jody Trapasso, president of the Chrysler Foundation, mentioned the tornadoes that ripped through several states in the south and Midwest this spring as a likely place for the use of the funds.

“The enormity of the devastation to communities throughout the South and America's heartland is heartbreaking,” Trapasso said. “AmeriCares is already on the ground helping the many people impacted by the floods and tornadoes and the foundation donation offers a means to expand their efforts.”

AmeriCares is a global nonprofit health and disaster relief organization. In the past, the organization has delivered more than $3,500 in emergency relief and humanitarian aid for each $100 donated, according to the Chrysler Foundation, which has a long history of emergency relief involvement.
