Lion Technology to offer RCRA regulation training

Sept. 1, 2011

Sept. 1, 2011—Lion Technology Inc. on Thursday announced it will present a series of two-day Hazardous Waste Management Certification Workshops this fall to help businesses comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

The purpose of the workshops is to teach business owners proper labeling and storage processes for hazardous waste regulations. Key topics include: waste identification, recycling rules and exclusions, accumulation and storage of hazardous waste, and completing the hazardous waste manifest.

Proper hazardous waste handling, management, and disposal is critical, especially in light of rising enforcement, said Scott Dunsmore, vice president of resources and business development for Lion Technology. Fines now as high as $37,500 per day per violation.

“With a slow economy and budgets tightening, the reflex is to go toward shorter and inexpensive training options,” Dunsmore said.
“However, with enforcement initiatives on the increase, shortchanging your training puts you at risk of costing you more in the long run.”

The first workshop will be held in Minneapolis Sept. 26-27. Additional workshops scheduled are as follows:

Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Sept. 29-30
St. Louis: Oct. 3-4
Chicago: Oct. 6-7
Louisville, Ky.: Oct. 24-25
Cincinnati: Oct. 27-28
Indianapolis: Oct. 31-Nov. 1
Milwaukee: Nov. 3-4
Pittsburgh: Nov. 7-8
Detroit: Nov. 14-15
Cleveland: Nov. 17-18

Workshop registration includes course reference materials, networking luncheon, certificate of achievement and one year of follow-up support. The workshops run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
