Three major auto recyclers merge to form Midwest group

April 22, 2011

April 22, 2011 — Team Premium Recycled Parts (PRP) recently added a new regional group, PRP Midwest, following the merger of the three largest independent automotive recycling networks in the country.

PRP Midwest is comprised of PRP’s Absolute and Heartland groups and the former QRP Midwest group. The alliance brings together 52 independent recyclers from a large swath of the U.S., from Minnesota to Georgia, Texas to Ohio. QRP Midwest alone contributed more than 30 recyclers to the group.

“We are extremely pleased to bring QRP Midwest into the PRP family,” said Kent Rothwell, TEAM PRP chairman and CEO of Weaver Auto Parts in Carnesville, Ga. “This greatly strengthens our membership core in the center of the country, and it makes TEAM PRP the largest progressive group of independent auto recyclers serving major markets in the nation.”

Mel Hunke, the former general manager of QRP Midwest, said the move benefits everyone involved.

“With the tough competition that independent recyclers face today, we’re all going to do better working together than we will separately,” Hunke said. “This new organization is made up of a great group of people and our future success will build on the tremendous quality of the companies and organizations that now form PRP Midwest.”

TEAM PRP supplies recycled parts for the majority of markets across the U.S. For more information on the network, go to
