Oct. 17, 2011—Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems on Monday announced it established a strategic alliance with Takata Corp.'s U.S. subsidiary, TK Holdings Inc., to develop new active safety systems products for North American commercial vehicles.
Under the agreement, Meritor WABCO said it will market and distribute Takata's SafeTrak Lane Departure Warning systems, Truck Interface Module and Fleet Management Portal.
Takata's Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system assists drivers in avoiding unintentional lane departure by providing warnings when certain events occur. The system complements Takata's other electronic products, which include collision sensors, electronic control units (ECU) and occupant classification systems.
"Takata's products perfectly complement and enhance our current active safety systems such as OnGuard and SmartTrack," said Jon Morrison, president of Meritor WABCO. "We're confident our customers will appreciate and embrace another progressive step in our pyramid of safety."
