July 13, 2012—GRC-Pirk Management, the registrar for FindGreenGarage.com, announced its Track Green Garage application now can be custom branded for members of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).
The web-based tracking software allows collision shops to continually monitor their sustainability performance under the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Green Building Standard, according to a news release_notes.
“Green practices provide both site-specific and community-wide benefits through savings associated with energy, water, and resource management, as well as the reduction of pollutants,” said Steven Schillinger, president of GRC-Pirk. “The many green improvements completed by shop owners in recent years have provided significant data on the benefits of environmental responsibility and sustainability in the automotive service industry.”
Green garage measurements follow standards under ANSI’s green building assessment protocol for commercial buildings, according to a news release. The standard takes a holistic approach and assesses management, site, water, energy, emissions, indoor environment and resources.
“When it comes to caring for our customers and their vehicles, demonstrating a strong sense of environmental responsibility is increasingly important for collision repair facilities,” said Aaron Schulenburg, SCRS executive director. “It is more than simply a marketing tool to use with a more environmentally conscious customer base, but rather a mentality shift that produces very tangible benefits for the business while appealing to an important social issue that is being demanded by the marketplace. The all-around benefits from embracing the sustainability movement are very positive for repairers, and we are proud to help bring solutions such as this to our membership.”
