SCRS of Missouri and Kansas raises $11,000 for Multiple Sclerosis Society

July 18, 2011

July 18, 2011 — The Society of Collision Repair Specialists of Missouri and Kansas (SCRS MO-KAN) raised $11,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society at its annual golf tournament July 14 in Overland Park, Kan.

The event attracted several dozen golfers and sponsorships sold out.

“This was a banner year for our tournament,” said SCRS MO-KAN Chairman Colette Bruce, who served as the tournament’s director. “We were frankly surprised at the level of support for our tournament and our benefactor, from the Kansas City community. We knew the industry would come out, but we want to give special thanks to friends of the industry. We couldn’t be more pleased.”

The SCRS chapter’s board prepared a presentation check for the event in the amount of $2,500, but because of the high level of sponsorship support, board member Buck Henry crossed out the number and added $2,000, an action that drew a flurry of other donations from companies and individuals.

Dwayne Lewis, chapter administrator for SCRS MO-KAN, said a dedicated board and energetic chairman were largely to thank for the event’s success.

“The money raised is a testament to the strength and commitment of our board,” Lewis said.

SCRS MO-KAN uses additional proceeds to fund other events, such as the Education Night of Achievement. The group is the first chapter of SCRS National and is a nonprofit organization. For more information, go to scrsmokan.com.
