Maaco franchise operator testifies before Congress for SBA funding

June 1, 2010

June 1, 2010—A Maaco collision repair shop operator testified last week before a Congressional committee in support of Small Business Administration (SBA) funding.

Brian Greenley, who owns a Maaco in Littleton, Colo., testified in support of funding mechanisms, such as SBA loans, which help the economic growth of small businesses.

“Early in my career, I purchased a plot of land and constructed a state of the art facility. This was done with the assistance of an SBA 504 Loan in 1997,” Greenley said. “With this assistance, I was able to achieve my goals of increased revenues, while expanding my staff and adding new products and services, at the same time striving to control costs. I believe SBA is a crucial source of funds necessary in maintaining a growing small business community that can continue to add jobs, which is so crucial to the economy, especially today.”

Nydia Velazquez (D-New York), chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee, was one of the committee members who favored Greenley’s testimony, according to a press release_notes from the Grassroots Newswire. Velazquez said the committee will continue to lobby Congress for the additional funds to support SBA loans and other related financial programs.
