April 1, 2016—FenderBender announced Friday that Darrell Amberson will have a column in FenderBender magazine titled “In the Trenches” starting in the April issue.
Amberson has been involved in the auto repair industry for more than 40 years, starting in an entry level position in high school. In 1999, he became president of MSO Lehman’s Garage serving there for 13 years. He has served on a number of councils and committees, including 12 years on the ASA’s board of directors and two years as chairman. Currently, Amberson is the president of operations for LaMettry’s Collision, an MSO in the Minneapolis area.
Amberson’s new column will tackle common collision industry challenges from the perspective of a shop leader working every day to overcome them.
“Even though I’ve been a consultant and involved myself with many leadership roles in committees, associations and industry events, I still work within a collision business. Every day, I interact with estimators, shop managers, technicians, vendors and insurers,” said Amberson, discussing what he will bring to FenderBender. “Even though I am upper management, I am not the owner. I believe I have an ownership mentality in terms of decision-making and commitment. I also understand what it is like to report to someone else.”
