Aug. 7, 2014—The Collision Repair Education Foundation recently announced over a dozen collision repair students and programs from around the country that received scholarships and grants for industry education.
The awards were part of more than $200,000 in scholarships given out in May by the Education Foundation, and other organizations, including Caliber Collision.
The awards, and their respective recipients, were:
-The Lon Baudoux Legacy $1,000 Scholarship, honoring Lon Baudoux, I–CAR development manger who passed away in Nov. 2008:
- Savannah Lintz of Saginaw Career Complex in Saginaw, Mich.
- Ying Lor of Saint Paul College in Saint Paul, Minn.
- Tyler Judd of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah
-The Collision Repair Education Foundation Board of Trustees $2,000 Scholarship, funded by the organization’s board of trustees:
- Cristian Ibarra of Olathe Advanced Technical Center in Olathe, Kan.
- Katherine Van Antwerp of Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa
-Robert Author Memorial Scholarship, through the Education Foundation for collision students attending Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wis. (funding for the scholarships was made possible through the local I-CAR volunteer committee fundraising events):
- Jason Oertel
- Matthew Spiegel
-Caliber Collision Centers awarded a $1,250 scholarship and $4,000 tool grant through the Education Foundation to two full-time students in post-secondary school:
- Eric Benavides of Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.
- Jamie Nichols of Crockett / ACC Automotive Center in Austin, Tex.
-Caliber also gave $1,100 grants to collision repair programs at five schools:
- Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.
- Cypress College in Cypress, Calif.
- Texas State Technical College in Waco, Tex.
- Universal Technical Institute in Houston, Tex.
