Aug. 26, 2014—I-CAR has launched its new three-credit Aluminum Panel Repair and Replacement (APR01) course, the organization announced Monday.
“Making the right decisions at the right time can play a role in improving KPIs like cycle time and CSI,” said Josh McFarlin, I–CAR's director of curriculum and product development. “Being able to properly assess damage, and repair and replace exterior panels requires understanding the properties, characteristics, design, and construction of aluminum.”
The instructor-led course goes over techniques like hammer and dolly use, using heat for straightening aluminum, paintless dent repair, weld-on and glue-on dent removal, and preventing corrosion. Students can view demonstrations about panel attachment and removal methods and participate in group activities.
The training meets the requirements for non-structural technicians, estimators and auto physical damage appraisers in I–CAR’s Professional Development Program.
