Sept. 4, 2012—The Collision Repair Education Foundation will host a collision student day during the 2012 Automotive Service & Repair Week (ASRW) to provide students with industry and career information.
The Education Foundation said it will organize two free industry sessions for all secondary and post-secondary collision repair students and instructors who attend the 2012 NACE Expo, which is scheduled for Oct. 10-13 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
The first session, scheduled for Oct. 12 at 11 a.m., will be presented by LKQ Corp. The presentation, called “Repair and Recycling an Opportunity,” will discuss perceptions and realities of motor vehicle recycling. The Education Foundation said LKQ will provide information about the company, employment needs and segmentation, and growth in motor vehicle recycling.
Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes will present the second session, scheduled for Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.. The Education Foundation said Sherwin-Williams will offer an overview on standard operating practices and procedures, and products and technologies that help shops become more efficient and profitable.
The Education Foundation said all collision students and instructors who attend the sessions will be provided with a free Cintas technician uniform to wear on the show floor. The uniforms are sponsored by FenderBender, CAPA, CCC Information Services Inc., LKQ Corp. and LORD/Fusor.
“These attending collision students are the future of the industry, and the Collision Repair Education Foundation is proud to work together with NACE to help educate this group on upcoming industry trends and career advice,” said Clark Plucinski, executive director of the Education Foundation. “I would invite all industry members to join in our efforts to support this group as only through assisting them in their technical education will there be a greater promise of the industry’s future.”
