New Orleans to host ASRW 2012

Sept. 7, 2011

Sept. 7, 2011 — The 2012 Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) will take place Oct. 11–13 at the New Orleans Enest N. Morial Convention Center, organizers announced Wednesday.

The location was chosen in response to surveys of exhibitors and members conducted earlier this year.

"Almost a year ago, we put the attendees and exhibitors in charge of key decisions about the future of ASRW, including where and when the event takes place," said Ron Pyle, president of the Automotive Service Association, which sponsors ASRW. "After multiple surveys among both attendees and exhibitors, the results were clear: our audience wants this event in New Orleans, and we're pleased to make it happen."

Based on attendance trends leading up to this year’s event in Orlando, Fla., organizers expect the move to New Orleans to boost the numbers of new attendees. ASRW moved to Orlando after co-locating with SEMA in Las Vegas from 2003 to 2009. Organizers said they plan to rotate the show between eastern, Midwestern and western regions of the country.

Representatives from New Orleans will be at ASRW this year to assist attendees with room reservations for next year and answer questions about the city.

ASRW is comprised of the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) and the Congress of Automotive Repair & Service (CARS). Nace was last held in New Orleans in 1995. CARS was held there in the late 1980s.
