CIC issues RFP for consultant on new standards group

Feb. 23, 2011

Feb. 23, 2011 — The Collision Industry Conference (CIC) Repair Standards Committee is looking for an independent contractor to help establish a new standards group.

The committee decided in July 2010 to develop the United States Collision Repair Standards Institute (USCRSI) to manage the creation, maintenance and implementation of repair standards for the U.S. collision industry. The proposal was the culmination of four years of analysis, which later led to the development of the Repair Standards Advisory Committee to guide the new group’s creation.

Because all the involved committee members were volunteers, they decided to send out a Request For Proposal (RFP) for a consultant who could prepare a business case statement for the USCRSI. The advisory committee will use the statement as a business plan for the new group and as a tool to raise funds for its formation.

The statement will describe the new group’s mission, structure and objectives, value to industry stakeholders, performance measures, work plan and timeline, and financial plan, according to the RFP. It will also assess the organization’s needs.

The contractor will use phone and in-person interviews with stakeholders to develop the statement.

The full RFP, prepared by advisory committee chairman Russell Thrall III, is available on the CIC website,
