HLDI Elects New Chairman

Feb. 15, 2013—The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) has elected Michael Doerfler, product development manager at Progressive Insurance, as the new chairman of its board of directors.

"HLDI's in-depth analysis is crucial to understanding how rapidly evolving safety technology is affecting losses on our nation's roads," Doerfler said. "I'm honored to partner with HLDI and my board colleagues to advance this critical work."

Doerfler succeeds James Nutting, senior vice president and chief actuary of Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Nutting will continue to serve as a board member.

John Xu, actuarial executive of AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah Insurance Exchange, will serve as vice chairman of the HLDI's board.
