ASA supports New Hampshire Aftermarket Parts Disclosure Bill

March 9, 2016–The Automotive Service Association announced Tuesday its support of New Hampshire Senate Bill 436, which would require an insurer to disclose whether or not an estimate has been prepared based on the use of aftermarket parts.

The bill, introduced by State Sen. Nancy Stiles (R-24), also would prohibit an insurer from requiring or specifying the use of aftermarket parts on certain leased vehicles, vehicles less than two years old or vehicles with fewer than 30,000 miles.

“We are writing today in support of Senate Bill 436. This legislation is good for consumers, good for shops and consistent with trends in other jurisdictions,” the ASA said in a letter to New Hampshire state senators. 

Senate Bill 436 passed the New Hampshire Senate March 3 and is before the House for further consideration.
