Mitchell to compete in 24 Hours of LeMons race

Nov. 21, 2011

Nov. 21, 2011—Mitchell International on Sunday announced it will compete in the 24 Hours of LeMons race, an endurance race for cars valued at $500 or less, as a fundraising effort for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The race will be held Dec. 3-4 at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park near Bakersfield, Calif. Mitchell’s team, called Lapping for Leukemia, will participate in the competition in a 1979 BMW 528e12.

Mitchell said it will raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through a donation-per-lap pledge model. Lump sum pledges can also be made with a credit card using a secure donation form at lappingforleukemia.com. All funds raised will be donated directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Beau Sullivan, senior director of user experience for Mitchell, said the company is hoping to raise $7,000 this year, doubling the amount of money raised at the event last year.

"Our team is really excited to gear up and compete for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in this year's 24 Hours of LeMons race. It's a great cause that we're proud to be a part of again,” Sullivan said. “It helps raise money, awareness and builds community support for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fund the research needed to end this devastating disease.”
