NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 10, 2012—Carfax will partner with Spanesi Americas in an effort aimed at expanding its information about repairs to previously wrecked vehicles in its database, according to an announcement made at Auomotive Service & Repair Week in New Orleans.
Spanesi Americas will report structural repair details to Carfax. In a statement release_notesd by Carfax, the company said that having this information on Carfax vehicle history reports improves consumer protection and helps car shoppers buy with greater confidence. Car buyers and sellers can more easily find out if a damaged vehicle was properly repaired, the release said.
“Our customers, the body shop owner-operator, now have the opportunity, through the Spanesi Touch documentation, to validate repairs performed on collisions reported to Carfax,” said Timothy Morgan, Managing Director, Spanesi Amercas, according to the release. “Once again providing the vehicle owner or future owner evidence of correct repairs, maintaining protection for the consumer, and the vehicles integrity.”
Estimates are that as many as one in five vehicles in the U.S. are involved in an accident. Consumers want information about damage and repairs to help ensure they purchase safe used cars. In addition, reporting vehicle repairs may help previously damaged cars retain resale value for their owners.
