Audi, AAAFTS partner for safe driving campaign

Oct. 6, 2011

Oct. 6, 2011—Audi on Wednesday announced the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety (AAAFTS) is its official partner for the "Driver's Pledge" campaign, a national initiative that challenges drivers to champion responsible driving behavior.

Audi encourages American drivers to pledge to be smarter and safer drivers by making a promise to refrain from texting while driving, and to avoid other distracted driving behaviors. Participants who take the “Driver’s Pledge” will be entered to win a trip for two to the Audi Sportscar Experience Challenge at the Audi Forum Sonoma in Northern California, according to Audi.

Supporters can visit to participate in the campaign. Drivers have until Nov. 30 to pledge.

"We're excited to partner with AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety on the 'Driver's Pledge,'" said Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer of Audi of America. "It was imperative for Audi to align with an organization doing great work across multiple issues confronted by drivers today. AAAFTS is a nationally recognized traffic safety leader that has researched the myriad of road safety and driver behavioral issues this campaign is targeting."

Audi said it will donate $25,000 to AAAFTS if 25,000 total pledges are reached during the campaign. Audi will donate an additional $50,000 if 100,000 total pledges are reached. Audi said its contributions will support additional Foundation research to make driving safer.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to change the traffic safety culture in this country, we hope that all drivers would not only support this campaign and take the pledge to drive more carefully, but permanently change their behavior,” said Peter Kissinger, president and CEO of AAAFTS. "Let's remember that more than 30,000 men, women and children are killed each year in motor vehicle crashes."

AAAFTS is a not-for-profit educational and research organization dedicated to saving lives and reducing injuries on roads, according to Audi.
