BodyShopBids processes $1.5 million in repair estimates

Nov. 10, 2011

Nov. 10, 2011—BodyShopBids, a Web-based platform that allows consumers to obtain repair estimates from collision repair shops, on Thursday announced it has processed more than 1,300 repair estimates—worth $1.5 million—within its first five months of operation.

The company, which launched in June, has partnered with more than 160 collision repair facilities to connect consumers in need of auto body repairs with shops through a bidding system. Consumers upload a photo of their damaged vehicles and receive repair quotes from nearby body shops within 24 hours. Consumers then select an estimate and book an appointment with the appropriate shop.

BodyShopBids reports it has saved consumers an average of $750—60 percent—on repair costs per repair.

“We’re excited to experience such tremendous growth in a short period of time, and our goal is to continue to build on that success,” said Brad Weisberg, founder and president of BodyShopBids. “We’ve seen that there’s a demand for a service like ours—people want to be able to find reputable body shops nearby, choose the fairest price, understand what’s actually wrong with their car and book an appointment, all from the comfort of their own home.”

BodyShopBids, funded by Lightbank, currently operates in the Chicago area. The company plans to expand to Los Angeles and other U.S. cities in the near future. For more information, visit
