Four Body Shops Caught in Insurance Fraud Scheme

Nov. 23, 2015—A multi-agency task force in Texas made 10 arrests of employees at four El Paso–area collision repair businesses on Thursday, concluding a 22-month-long investigation into insurance fraud.

According to reports from the local ABC affiliate, employees at the shops—Gordo’s Auto Body, Rigo’s Auto Body, Big V’s Design, and C&M Body Shop—intentionally damaged vehicles in order to make fraudulent insurance claims.

The task force, called Operation Paint Job, was made up of members of the El Paso Police Department El Paso Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force assigned to the FBI’s Major Theft Task Force; agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety CID section; Homeland Security Investigations; National Insurance Crime Bureau; and USAA Insurance.
