Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has announced its plan to unify its Houston operations.
This strategic move is designed to align the curriculum, student-facing systems, and support services, thereby enhancing the learning experience for students pursuing careers in high-demand fields.
The consolidated campus will include programs such as Collision Repair & Refinish Technology.
As part of this transition, the MIAT-Houston campus, acquired in November 2021, will start operating under the UTI brand. A phased teach-out agreement is set to be implemented from May 2024. Conveniently located less than a quarter of a mile apart off Interstate 45 in the northern section of the city, both MIAT-Houston and UTI-Houston campuses will continue to be operational post-consolidation.
Tracy Lorenz, President of the UTI Division, stated in a news release, “This transition will provide students with access to UTI’s expanded student and career support services and a more streamlined and standardized educational delivery model. It will also enable future students to complete certain programs more quickly.” Starting from May, the existing faculty will teach consistent course objectives and similar programs, with classes and labs continuing at the same locations using the same technology and equipment.
Lorenz further added, “We are committed to making this transition seamless and positive for our students. We believe this consolidation will further establish UTI as the leading provider of career technical training solutions in the Houston market, where UTI has been operating for over 40 years.”
The transition is expected to be fully completed by early fiscal 2025.
