Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, Inc. (TNA) of White, Ga., has received ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification for the design and manufacturing of passenger and light truck tires. The quality management system standards certification was issued by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited of Houston, Texas.

Established in June 2004, the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility produces both Toyo Tires® and Nitto® brand tires using a proprietary automated production system called A.T.O.M. (Advanced Tire Operation Module).  The result is high quality passenger and light truck tires that are distributed to customers across North America. In addition to replacement tires, the factory also produces original equipment tires for vehicle brands including Ford and Toyota.

“We strive to attain the highest quality possible throughout our global operations -- without exceptions,” said Jim Hawk, president and corporate officer, Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, Inc.  “Receiving this most recent 16949:2009 Quality Management System Standards certification assures customers that our commitment to quality is unwavering.”

The plant is currently undergoing its fourth expansion, adding more than 1,000,000-square feet to its current 2,000,000-square feet of manufacturing and warehousing.  TNA also plans to hire an additional 650 employees over the next year. Also named on the certificate is the Toyo Tires Technical Center in Itami City, Japan.
