Volvo is actively expanding in China. Last week, the Swedish carmaker opened two 4S (Sale, Sparepart, Service and Survey) stores in Beijing. Volvo China CEO Alexander Klose said, given that Beijing is the most important market for Volvo in China, the automaker plans to set up more stores in the city.

For the first nine months of the year, Volvo posted a 60 percent growth in sales volume in China, mainly driven by the S80L and S60 models, according to Klose.

In addition to expanding the sales network, Volvo is looking to expand its product line in China, as the management of the company recognizes that China is the key to improving overall sales volume for Volvo. In mid-September, Li Shufu, chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese automaker that acquired Volvo from Ford, traveled to Volvo headquarters in Sweden where he presided over a board meeting at which he discussed issues around procedures and technologies concerning broadening Volvo’s China portfolio, a portfolio which is still very narrow at present.
