General Motors' China joint venture Shanghai GM recently showcased at the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition with 28 Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet models, including the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept which is powered by a lithium-ion battery; the Cadillac Converj concept which can be driven without using fuel or producing emissions; and the plug-in hybrid Cadillac XTS concept.

As part of its efforts to consolidate the Chevrolet brand, Shanghai GM announced that by the end of this year the company will import the next-generation Chevrolet Spark model, a model which differs from the old version produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling, the joint venture formed by General Motors, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile.

Upon completion of the consolidation, Shanghai GM will become the exclusive manufacturer and seller of the Chevrolet brand in China. The original Spark model, which is currently produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling, will no longer use Spark as its trademark and, instead, will use the "Lechi" logo. SAIC-GM-Wuling has begun to look for new growth opportunities by introducing Wuling Hong Guang, the company's first business vehicle with a completely new look and featuring a modern interior design.
