ORLANDO – CP Handheld is taking its handheld technologies to one major company’s back office, reaching an agreement with AutoNation.

Motor Age learned of the agreement when meeting with CP Handheld officials during the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention in Orlando. Under the new agreement, CP Handheld will provide automated inventory, floor plan and RDR reconciliation tools at its Shared Service Center in Dallas. AutoNation’s Shared Service Center model allows it to reduce costs by consolidating a variety of account reconciliations that traditionally are performed at the dealership level.

CP Handheld will perform physical scans for AutoNation’s 200-plus stores using its nationwide AutoScan service.

“CP Handheld has been instrumental in helping us to control costs through the consolidation of many of our back-office reconciliation processes at our Shared Service Center,” say Denise Foley, VP purchasing and payroll. ‘And as a publicly traded company, we’re very pleased with CP Handheld’s ability to integrate with our systems and maintain our tight audit control standards.”

CP Handheld offers auto dealerships a comprehensive set of Web-based tools that simplify the reconciliation process by automating data collection from the manufacturer, DMS, bank and physical scans to create accurate, reliable reconciliation reports. CP Handheld reports that its system is user-friendly and requires no additional hardware or software installation.

With more than 800 monthly reconciliations, CP Handheld has helped auto dealerships operate more efficiently and reduce costs since it was launched seven years ago.

“We’re excited to be helping the leader in real automotive consolidate their back-office operations,” says CP Handheld President Dan Perry. “Through their Shared Service Center model, AutoNation is successfully leveraging our technology to bring them tremendous efficiencies over the traditional method of performing reconciliations.”
