Beijing Hyundai Motor Company posted a year-on-year increase of 98 percent in vehicle sales during the first 10 months of 2009, thanks to outstanding performance of the Elantra model.
Referring to concerns that the company's focus on mid-range cars may weaken its resistance to risks, Lu Zaiwan, general manager of Beijing Hyundai, says that the company plans to bring in a new high-end model in 2011, in a move to consolidate its presence in the high-end market.
Meanwhile, the automaker will continue to implement its innovation strategy by making modifications to existing models, while further expanding its technology center by beefing up the workforce to 600.
Sonata MoInca, launched by Beijing Hyundai in the second half of this year and the carmaker’s first independently developed model, has received a warm response from the market, boosting confidence in innovation. In addition, the technology center is already working on the next independently developed model.
