Ford Motor Company is planning to shut down its automobile parts manufacturing facilities in Monroe, Michigan and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ford, which incurred losses worth $12.6 billion in 2006, will close the Monroe plant in 2008. The company has sold the driveshaft business at Monroe plant to Neapco and has plans to stop operation of the steering-systems factory in Indianapolis by 2010.
