Brembo celebrated a remarkable year of growth, products and advanced disc technology at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Nov. 4-7, 2014.
After celebrating the grand opening in June of its newly expanded $115 million manufacturing facility in Homer, Mich., the Company recently announced plans to break ground on a new cast-iron foundry: a $100 million investment located adjacent to its Homer plant. This investment will continue Brembo’s global strategy of vertical integration and guarantee greater process efficiency and supply chain stability. These new and expanded facilities will be the foundation of continued growth that has resulted in Brembo’s North American operations becoming Brembo’s #1 market in Group sales.
In addition to these new facilities, Brembo’s growth can also be attributed to the development of new technologies and products for the high-performance aftermarket. For the past 11 years Brembo has produced carbon ceramic brake discs that provide 50% weight savings over traditional cast-iron discs and higher thermal conductivity, durability and versatility leading to a longer life span. Brembo is the leader in carbon ceramic brake components and offers the CCM, CCM-R, and CARBON line of products for road and racing applications. Years of product development, testing and on-road and track experience have resulted in Brembo being the leading provider of carbon applications to professional racing teams, including Formula One and IndyCar, and most recently, the use of carbon ceramic products by several original equipment manufacturers in their high performance and premium vehicles.
In fact, Brembo will display at SEMA the new CCM-R Carbon-Ceramic brake discs and pads together with Brembo’s calipers on the Nissan R35 GT-R as original equipment. The system will yield weight savings of 25 lbs. on the front axle and 31 lbs. on the rear axle resulting in improved braking performance for road and track use.
Brembo will also display several examples of technology transfer from Brembo’s Racing unit to high-performance products sold by its Aftermarket division, including discs with specialized ventilation, floating hardware and surface treatments.
Brembo’s SEMA display will feature iPads that contain pre-loaded data and information and will invite attendees to learn more about Brembo's Formula 1 brake systems, Research and Development, as well as Brembo’s high-quality standards. A full range of aftermarket product upgrades will also be on display including the Sport, Gran Turismo, GT-R and Professional Racing systems. Those systems will also be displayed throughout the show on several SEMA featured vehicles. To find out more, stop by the Brembo booth located in SEMA’s Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #23561.
