The year was 1956.  With a $5000 loan from his father-in-law, Herb Walne opened a modest gas station at the corner of Easton and Northwest Highway in Dallas.

With a hard work ethic and an infectious smile and sense of humor, Herb would win the hearts and loyalty of drivers all around the city. He would soon open a full service mechanical shop, followed by state-of-the-art, drive-through car wash, one of the first of its kind in Dallas.

His first full service auto repair and paint shop would come next, and began what is known today as Herb’s Paint and Body. Herb’s son, Alan, and grandson, Robert, continue to operate one of the most respected auto repair companies in the metroplex, making it the only family owned multi-repair center celebrating its Sixtieth Anniversary.

“For 60 years we have approached our work and service with the philosophy Herb Walne established - ‘Making unpleasant experiences…..pleasant ones’. This is now a part of our branding, and something we all continue to embrace,” said Alan Walne, Herb’s CEO.  Herb’s Paint and Body operates eight repair centers in North Texas.
