Chief announces new aluminum dust extractor with small footprint

Dec. 9, 2016
The new Chief Aluminum Dust Extractor 63L combines an economical purchase price with innovative features designed to increase operational longevity as well as collision repair shop productivity.
As the volume of aluminum used in vehicle construction increases, so does the need for the safe and secure collection of corrosive aluminum particles generated during collision repair of these vehicles. The new stainless steel Chief Dust Extractor 63L combines an economical purchase price with innovative features designed to increase operational longevity as well as body shop productivity. “More and more shops are setting up aluminum bays to isolate aluminum jobs from steel repair, and we heard loud and clear from many shops that they wanted a compact, economical, long-lasting dust extractor they could grow their business with,” says Lee Daugherty, director of collision sales, the Americas, for Chief parent company Vehicle Service Group (VSG). “The Chief Dust Extractor 63L is a smaller, simplified version of our original Dust Extractor 85L with the same features and benefits. This affordable extractor has been adapted to the collision industry from the military and aerospace industries, so it is a workhorse option for any shop.”

The new Chief Aluminum Dust Extractor 63L combines an economical purchase price with innovative features designed to increase operational longevity as well as collision repair shop productivity.

Only Chief dust extractors have a detachable water tank that functions as a wet mix separator. The tank is easily detached and rolled to a convenient water source for filling, eliminating the need for cumbersome hoses in the shop area. The unit uses the water to wet the aluminum particles so they can be filtered from the airflow in the tank. A clear tube gauge lets the operator know when the tank is full, so it can be detached for easy emptying and cleaning in a suitable shop location, in compliance with environmental regulations.

The Chief Dust Extractor 63L is compatible with any pneumatic sander that has a vacuum function. Simply connect the sander to the extractor via a static conductive vacuum hose and air line, an added safety feature that extends grounding to the operator and sanding equipment. To maximize productivity, the Chief dust extractor comes with a wye connector that enables two sanders to connect at the same time.  As a result, technicians spend less time waiting for equipment to become available.

The durable Chief Dust Extractor 63L features all-stainless steel construction. It comes with a coalescing HEPA filter that captures 99.995 percent of ultrafine contaminants at .3 microns in size.

Options include an automatic on/off switch that allows the extractor to be turned on when the sanding begins, and a sieve basket strainer to make tank clean up faster and easier.
