CAPA continues to broaden the expertise of its board with the election of Mike Schoonover of Schoonover Bodyworks, Inc. in St. Paul, Minn.
CAPA continues to broaden the expertise of its board with the election of Mike Schoonover of Schoonover Bodyworks, Inc. in St. Paul, Minn. Schoonover was elected to the collision repairer position vacated by Bob Anderson, who served as CAPA’s President until last year when Clark Plucinski was elected. “Mike Schoonover is a long-standing and respected leader in the collision repair industry and we are excited to have him join CAPA’s efforts to insure that the market has truly high quality alternative parts,” said Jack Gillis, CAPA’s Executive Director. “Mike has been a valuable resource as CAPA’s Technical Committee chairman and we know he will be a valuable asset to the Board as CAPA continues to expand on its diversity of standards and growth in part availably.” Schoonover is a 3rd generation family business owner of Schoonover Bodyworks and Glass, which was started by his Grandfather, Chuck Schoonover in 1938. Schoonover literally grew up in his families’ business. As a youngster, he worked at his dad’s shop cleaning cars, sweeping floors, and working in the shop. After attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth, he returned to the business full time, working in sales, marketing and management. In his over 25 years at Schoonover Bodyworks,

Schoonover has received industry training though 3M ARMS, Sikkens ACOAT Select workshops, AMI classes, and I-CAR.

Schoonover has served on various boards and committees including; ASA Collision Division Operations committee and insurance sub-committees, AASP-MN Collision Committee and Board of Directors, CAPA Technical Committee as Chairman, ICAR International Board of Directors, and the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.
