NJ governor requiring businesses to take inventory of PPE
New Jersey Governor Philip Murphy signed an executive order asking businesses to take inventory of any personal protective equipment on hand that could be useful in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
He requested that businesses send their PPE inventory information — which includes gloves and face masks — to the state by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The Office of Emergency Management asks that businesses — which will likely include automotive body and service shops and parts distributors — report their inventory here.
“It is our understanding that, at this time, that the state will not take PPE from shops or distributors, but that could change in the future if the situation reaches a critical mass and that step needs to be taken,” said Paul Fiore, Senior Director, Government Affairs with the Auto Care Association.
