SCRS Quick Tip: Push/Pull to Paint
In this video from the Society of Collision Repair Specialists, Barry Dorn of Dorn’s Body and Paint and Kris Burton of Rosslyn Auto Body discuss the “push to paint” or “pull to paint” repair method and why it can be a beneficial default approach.
They explore how push to paint can be less intrusive, reduce repair area size, and help avoid backside corrosion issues. This method leads to a better overall repair for the vehicle. While it doesn’t always produce a perfectly flat finish without distortion, they emphasize how understanding the variables, tools, and techniques involved can make a big difference.
The conversation covers the range of tools and consumables used, including different glues, tabs, bridges, pull towers, and glue guns, as well as the ability to work on both steel and aluminum panels. They also highlight the importance of knowing which products to use for different applications, the costs associated with consumables, and the role of cleaners like isopropyl alcohol in the process.
