April 20, 2012—The Connected Vehicle Trade Association Inc. (CVTA) recently named Gary Wallace, vice president of corporate communications and government affairs for Agero, chairman of its board of directors.

Plymouth, Mich.-based CVTA is a nonprofit industry group that facilitates communication and collaboration among companies, organizations, and state and federal agencies involved in the development and deployment of vehicle communications.

Wallace has served on the CVTA's board of directors since 2007, said Agero, a Medford, Mass.-based provider of connected vehicle services and claims management for the automotive, insurance and aftermarket industries. He has been an active advocate on various issues pertaining to the connected vehicle industry in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Agero said Wallace’s experience includes support for the National Center for Injury and Prevention Control's expert panel on advanced automatic collision notification and triage. Wallace has also represented Agero on privacy, data protection, telecommunications and driver distraction issues that relate to the automotive industry.

"Gary has been a thought leader for Agero for well over a decade, particularly within the public safety community and among government bodies ranging from the European Commission to local emergency response officials,” said Charlie Cavolina, president of Agero. "His work with the CVTA reflects Agero's commitment to working with a wide variety of organizations to promote broader deployment of connected vehicle innovation and technologies throughout the global mobility and safety markets."
