April 12, 2012—NSF International, an independent automotive parts testing and certification organization, has certified the first steel fender under its Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program.

The steel fender certified under NSF’s program is manufactured by Taiwan-based Tong Yang Industry Co. NSF said Tong Yang’s steel fenders were certified to meet rigid quality, safety and performance standards through facility audits and testing.

To earn certification, Tong Yang’s steel fenders were independently reviewed and tested against original equipment (OE) service parts. NSF audited Tong Yang’s manufacturing facilities and quality systems to ensure the company met each of NSF’s certification requirements.

NSF said the new fender certification complements Tong Yang’s existing certified parts, which include bumpers, bumper absorbers, rebars and brackets.

“Tong Yang has already earned NSF certification for its front and rear rebars, front and rear bumper absorbers, front bumper and brackets,” said Bob Frayer, director of NSF International’s Automotive Collision Certification Program and engineering laboratories. “Tong Yang’s new fender certification is another example of their commitment to supplying the highest quality collision replacement parts to the aftermarket.”

NSF said Tong Yang’s certified steel fenders, rebars, bumper absorbers and brackets are now authorized to display the NSF mark, which indicates compliance with NSF’s certification requirements. The parts are also now listed on NSF’s certification listings Web page.

Tong Yang will undergo quarterly facility audits and random parts testing to maintain its certification, according to NSF.
